Robins Sunning Their Wings

Birds
Glenda has discovered a place in the middle of a ring of rose bushes here the robins regularly come to “sun bathe.”  They spread their wings for a bit, then seem to shake them out in sections.  (Unfortunately I wasn’t expecting this so didn’t have my finger on the video button.)  In the final shot, the Robin appears to be scratching/cleaning its chin with a claw.
We have no idea why the robins pick this spot.  Other birds sometimes sun briefly there but the robins run them off.  When a hawk appeared overhead this morning and circled, the robins quickly disappeared.
